Delta College trustee Lisa Turner resigned after finding out she no longer lived in Area 7, the district she represented on the board.
Turner found out about the issue when she went to file paperwork for re-election.
A 2011 family move, while in the same community and zip code, took Turner outside of Area 7. Turner resigned on Aug. 11, initially citing personal reasons. A news release issued by the college Sept. 9 confirmed the resignation due to the residency issue.
Turner served on the Board of Trustees for almost four years.
“Delta College is grateful for her service and is saddened by the unfortunate circumstances surrounding her resignation,” according to release.
Delta is currently reviewing the situation, and weighing options on how to avoid a situation like this in the future.
